Meet the Partner: Hands In

At BR-DGE we are incredibly proud to be growing an independent payment orchestration platform which enables merchants to connect and collaborate with a global ecosystem of payment services through one single integration.

Our partners play an important role in the payment journey, supporting merchants to deliver a streamlined payment experience for customers, from security through to alternative payment optionality.

In our Meet the Partner series, we showcase how we collaborate with our key partners, what products or functionality is available and how you can benefit from our broad range of integrations.

In this series, we sat down with Hands In to find out more about their leading group payment solution, why it is revolutionising payments and how this technology is unique to the market, which is very much in need of this fantastic solution.

1. Please provide an overview of your organisation and what you do.

Hands In is a leading group payment solution provider, revolutionising the way customers split the cost of purchases at checkout. With a strong focus on sectors like travel and hospitality, we understand the pain points of shared expenses. Our innovative technology simplifies group payments, allowing customers to seamlessly split the basket at checkout. By eliminating the frustrations of upfront payments on a single card, we not only enhance the customer experience but also drive incremental sales for our merchant partners by increasing conversions on group checkouts.

2. How do you work in partnership with BR-DGE?

Hands In works closely with BR-DGE, collaborating to integrate our group payment technology into the BR-DGE platform. This partnership allows BR-DGE to offer our solution to their merchants, providing a seamless integration experience for merchants wanting to adopt group payment technology.

3. Explain how your product/solution works.

Hands In offers a seamless group payment solution designed to enhance the checkout experience for merchants. Here's how it works:

  • Merchants seamlessly integrate our product into their checkout process.
  • The lead booker, during checkout, selects the group payment option powered by Hands In.
  • The lead booker has the flexibility to split the payment equally, by item, or with custom amounts.
  • The lead booker invites all group members to join the payment process, which can be done effortlessly through link sharing, QR codes, SMS, or email invitations.
  • Each group member joins the payment and securely enters their card information. Each payment is authorised until all group members have joined and paid or until the total balance is made up.
  • Once the payment is completed, a webhook is sent to your internal system, providing a notification that the payment is successfully processed. The funds are then transferred to your payment gateway account.

This streamlined process ensures a seamless and efficient group payment experience, benefiting both merchants and customers.

4. What makes your organisation different from others in your area of speciality? What is your market USP?

Hands In distinguishes itself as the leading payment provider that revolutionises the checkout experience by offering a unique group payment solution. Our innovative technology allows customers to effortlessly split the cost of their basket at checkout, providing a seamless and secure way to manage shared expenses. By streamlining the payment process, we enhance conversion rates and eliminate friction associated with online group payments. With Hands In, customers enjoy a seamless and convenient checkout experience while merchants benefit from increased sales and customer satisfaction.

5. How was your organisation founded? What was the market need?

Hands In was founded by recognising the need for a simplified and efficient solution for group payments. The idea originated from personal experiences, where the fragmented approach to shared expenses among friends created frustrations and complexities. The realisation of this problem was further reinforced during attempts to book a group holiday, highlighting the lack of a simultaneous and hassle-free payment-splitting option. Through research and gathering feedback from the travel sector, it became evident that a comprehensive solution was in high demand. Travel agencies acknowledged the sales lost due to failed payments, while established players like Visa faced challenges with legacy systems. This drove the entrepreneurial vision of creating Hands In, a powerful technology platform that offers a seamless and efficient payment solution, benefiting both travellers and stakeholders in the payment ecosystem.

6. What current trends in digital payments are impacting your organisation?

Currently, there are several significant trends in digital payments that are impacting our organisation. One of the key trends is the high percentage of payment failures in pack sizes of 3 and above, particularly in the travel and hospitality industry. These failures often occur due to insufficient funds on a specific payment method, leading to frustrated customers and lost sales opportunities for merchants. This issue is further exacerbated by the economic recession, with a significant portion of Gen Z and millennials living paycheck to paycheck.

As a result of these trends, we have witnessed a growing number of merchants seeking our assistance to address this payment failure problem and improve the overall customer experience. Our solution enables merchants to mitigate these payment failures and provide a seamless payment experience for their customers, helping them retain sales and enhance customer satisfaction.
