BR-DGE appoints senior travel specialist to bolster sector expertise

Edinburgh, 14th June – Today payment orchestration provider BR-DGE, announces the appointment of Emily Whalley, an experienced sales leader within the travel industry, as Travel Specialist.

With nearly two decades of experience in the industry, including most recently as Senior Strategic Sales and Account Manager at worldwide travel retail platform Travelport International, Emily will be leading BR-DGE’s growth efforts in the sector. This will include forging new relationships with players across the sector, including travel retail businesses, travel agencies, airlines and airports.

The appointment comes ahead of a landmark merchant partnership in the sector which will be announced in the coming weeks.

BR-DGE’s payment orchestration solution solves particular challenges that are acute in the travel sector. Legacy and fragmented systems are ripe for innovation, while system resilience has become a commercial imperative. Travel businesses are also having to grapple with catering to a growing number of payment preferences across different markets. With BR-DGE, merchants can onboard new payment solutions, as well as partners, at unmatched speed to keep up with customer habits. Its single API integration allows for a more connected payments ecosystem, offering a resilient and flexible framework for innovation and growth.

Commenting on the appointment, Jacob Spencer, Head of Commercial at BR-DGE, said; “We look forward to having Emily on board to lead our expansion into the travel sector. Emily’s expertise will bring critical insight to help us build new relationships with travel merchants and demonstrate the vast benefits of payment orchestration for their business and their customers.”

Emily Whalley, added: “I’m excited to be joining the talented team at BR-DGE and help the business make further inroads in travel as the sector emerges from the pandemic and invests in customer experience.”

It is the latest senior appointment for BR-DGE following Kenny Scott joining as Chief Technology Officer and Sean Murray as Senior Product Manager in March 2022, with plans for further strategic hires in the months ahead. In the last year alone, BR-DGE’s team has doubled in size and is projected to do so again by the end of 2022.

BR-DGE’s platform works to revolutionise online payments for merchants by offering a universe of payment options via a single point of integration. The platform enables merchants to optimise their payments stack, substantially reducing the risk of failed payments which commonly impacts merchants which rely on a small number of payment processors.
