About the role:

We are looking for a Front-end Engineer to join our existing front-end team. Whilst the team is primarily focused on front-end products including our portal, the team also own one node.js (NestJS) back-end.  Working with their direct team, back-end engineers and product owners; our Front-end Engineers strive to continuously improve our product for our customers.  This is a hands-on role, where writing clean, maintainable and efficient code are key, as well as a drive to continuously improve.   

Our ideal candidate will be an experienced Front-end Engineer & have some exposure to back-end engineering. The role is ideal for an engineer who is looking to progress their engineering career within a dynamic scale-up environment.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Coding, debugging and optimising our product to a high standard as part of a sprint team
  • Actively participate in code reviews, providing constructive feedback, and ensure code quality
  • Working with stakeholders including engineers and product owners to assist in the preparation and refinement of new work.
  • Being a strong advocate and influencer for new designs and best practices for the team
  • Staying current with trends and best practices in the FinTech industry to continuously improve development processes.

What we’re looking for:

  • Proven experience working in front-end development and competent using JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML5 & CSS
  • Experience working with JavaScript frameworks such as React, Vue or Angular (We use Next.js)
  • Experience working with popular JavaScript testing frameworks (We use Jest & Cypress)
  • Interested in working on back-end applications (node.js - NestJS)
  • Familiarity with cloud computing concepts and DevOps tools (AWS, Docker, Jenkins)
  • High development standards, especially for code quality, code reviews, unit testing, continuous integration and deployment
  • A strong collaborator who is eager to share knowledge and expertise with others
  • Good problem-solving ability and a desire to drive change with continuous and iterative improvements
  • Growth mindset, with an appetite for taking on challenges and leveraging new technologies

What would be great to have:

  • Experience in creating UI designs is a bonus
  • Knowledge and understanding of the payments industry
  • Background in a FinTech start-up/scale up environment
  • Practical knowledge of the Atlassian software suite

Interview process:

  • 1st stage – Interview with Hiring Manager and a member of the Engineering team -60 minutes.
  • 2nd Stage – Technical interview via Zoom with two engineers from the team – 60 minutes
  • Final Stage – Interview with VP of Engineering and/or CTO
