Duties/Responsibilities include:

BR-DGE is going through an exciting period of growth and to fuel this we are looking for an experienced Android Engineer.

What you will be working on:

Our app is almost 100% Kotlin. We use RxJava and Retrofit for API calls and Dagger for dependency injection. We do code reviews via Bitbucket Pull Requests and write unit tests for anything which contains logic using Mockito. We also use Bitrise as our CI platform.

This role is about ensuring our Android SDK is as intuitive and painless to integrate with as possible, implementing features and functionality in a way that is consistent with the rest of our API and industry standards. We focus on writing clean, modular, and testable code that we know is reliable, constantly looking for ways we can improve our product and our processes.

You will collaborate with your colleagues within the mobile engineering team to help steer us in the right direction technically, contributing to decisions about both what we build, and how we build it.

  • Familiarity with RxJava
  • Comfortable with Test Driven Development
  • Experience with common dependencies (Retrofit, Dagger, Mockito)
  • Experience in writing and configuring Gradle tasks
  • Familiarity with architectures and design patterns

The type of person we’d love to meet:

  • Deliberate: someone who optimises for impact over quantity.
  • Focused: someone who is goal-oriented with a product-mindset.
  • Inquisitive: someone who loves to ask questions, learn, and improve.
  • Proactive: someone who wants to get stuck in and take the initiative.
  • Ambitious: someone who sees room to grow as an opportunity.
  • Humble: someone who knows what they don’t know.
  • Respectful: someone who can disagree constructively.
